The people behind the instrument

Our Artisans, Keepers of an Ancestral Craft

Behind every guembri, every oud, every bendir, there are hands, a story and a workshop. Meet the Moroccan luthiers we work with directly.

Instruments Musique Maroc doesn't manufacture its own instruments: we work in direct partnership with a small network of Moroccan luthiers, chosen for the consistency and authenticity of their work. This approach lets us maintain rigorous quality control while supporting a local artisan economy often squeezed by mass-produced competition.

How we choose our partner artisans

Before any partnership, we assess consistent build quality (intonation, finish, sturdiness), the authenticity of materials used (local wood, traditionally tanned skins) and the artisan's ability to meet regular production timelines. We also favour workshops that pass their skills on to young apprentices, helping keep these traditional crafts alive.

Every order placed on our site directly contributes to fair compensation for these artisans, as part of our commitment to championing Moroccan artisanal heritage.
